Gesala Biotech was established in June 2018 and located in Panzhihua, a city in Jinsha£¿River£¿dry-hot£¿valley, Southwest of China, which is one of the best places globally for large scale microalgae cultivation. The initiator of the company , Dr. Jian Li, has been long working in the field of microalgal technology in China, USA, Belgium and New Zealand, and now he focuses on establishing large scale microalgal cultivation facilities for astaxanthin production in Panzhihua. The company has organized a coalition of technical partners devoted to this effort, which include Panzhihua University, Sichuan University, Institute of Oceanology, CAS, and Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium. A joint laboratory has been established in Panzhihua University, and an international technical team has been incorporated. The company has already acquired grants from various funding agencies, such as Joint Science and Technology Support Program of Sichuan University and Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province Science and Technology Support Program Panzhihua Municipal and Science and Technology Support Program in Panzhihua and etc. Innovative microalgal processes have been developed, and a pilot scale facility is under construction. The company has also developed microalgal products in the format of tablets, sport drink, and liquor, and the sales has skyrocketed to 2.5M in 2020. |
| Responsibilities and description of the position £º |
Responsibilities:
1.Identification and development of algae culture strains suitable for use in commercial applications.
2.Improve biomass productivity of algae culture systems for secondary metabolite production
3.Develop a vigorous research program to investigate innovative strategies of large scale microalgae cultivation
4.Remain current with the body of science related to general microalgal technology, present and publish research findings. |
| Requirements for applicants£º |
Qualifications:
1.Doctoral Degree in biological sciences, genetics, microbiology, or closely related field.
2.Background in one or more fields of algae and/or algae biomass production.
3.Practical experience in microbial biomass culture and related scientific research.
4.Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
1.Strong experience (at least 4 years) in culture of microalgae or other microorganisms
2.Experience with algal strain selection and nutritional manipulation of algae cultures.
3.Familiarity with current technology regarding algae biomass production.
4.Track record of high-impact publications and collaboration with notable research programs. |
